What can I say? It's me and Gaudi all the way.
Gaudi designed Guell Park as part of an upmarket housing development for rich people in the early twentieth century. It combines playful whimsy, terraces dotted with trees and a curved seating area where you can lounge on the mosaic seats designed to fit your body ergonomically as you gaze down on the city below. The building development failed but the park stayed.
This is called the hall of a hundred columns. It was designed to house a produce market for the sixty mansions that were planned for the development. It was way ahead of its time. Just imagine how successful such a gated community like this would be today.
A lovely wall of undulating mosaics. And below the quaint rooftops that Gaudi designed to delight the eye.
This is a delightful little circle in the middle of the ceiling of this covered meeting point. There are lots of them dotted above.
Tom agreeing to have his photo taken. There were lots of strolling musicians walking around the park. We were surrounded by haunting strains of Spanish guitar as we walked.
