Miro museum

We couldn't just visit two of Barcelona's favourite sons. We had to visit three. So it was off to the Joan Miro museum.  I fell in love with this chap in the courtyard.

This little girl shows some of the Japanese influences that were popular at the time. See how the hair is heavily stylised and not like real hair at all.

And here we have the Parisian influence with the bottle of wine. Miro discovered surrealism. "Surrealism opened up a universe that justified and soothed my torment. It allowed me to go beyond formal research; it took me to the heart of poetry, to the heart of joy," he wrote.

This work shows what Miro thought of the art dealers making lots of money from selling famous artists' canvases. He burned and tore the canvas to show his contempt for the notion that art could be turned into money. It was all about art for arts sake for him. Ironically these mutilated canvases are worth a fortune.

I loved this huge ceramic that was glazed and decorated on both sides.

And how about these bad boys?

A bit of fun.

And some more fun.

And even some more fun. The color and curves reminded me of Gaudi.
