Well our party for fifty was a raging success but it was totally exhausting. We had enough booze to sink a ship, the house was spotless and people were in the mood to party. Jesse appointed himself chief bar-person and did the job with his usual suave charm.
Incidentally, good news for newly engaged Jesse, he has been offered a job in New York with a French gaming company. Yay!
Here are some of our guests enjoying the party. It looks quite sedate but inside there were raging throngs eating, drinking and mingling. Unfortunately all the photographic evidence of this jollification was hopelessly blurred and out of focus. Funny about that. Phil did announce the pairings and I was matched up with the adorable Ben Fowle. Tom was paired with 10 year old Charlie Moore. So after a short sleep we were up bright and early to start the great Charlevoix 4th of July tennis tournament. Tom and Charlie got off to a great start by winning their set.
I did pretty well by my standards. We lost 4 to 6. But since in my other two tournaments my team lost 0 to 6 both times this was a step in the right direction. A lot of that success is due to my partner. Here we are celebrating our near win with Ben's little daughter.
Tom and Charlie put up a heroic battle in their next round but unfortunately lost.
The watching crowd weren't too devastated by the loss. They just continued to chat about life and jewelry. Far more interesting than tennis. Tournaments at Charlevoix aren't quite like Wimbledon. Kids and dogs run across the court mid game, people wander about and catch up with each other. At the end of the day the winners of the tournament were two young lads, Ben Fowle and Ben Borus. It was the second time in a row that 12 year old Ben Borus won the cup.
Great effort Kerry, sounds like the 4th was a blast. Wish I was there (to battle it out for that cup, among other things)!!
