Goodbye Charlevoix, hello Chicago.

Our last night in Charlevoix was spent at the Big House having dinner and then playing the usual games of  Spoons, Up Jenkins, Sardines and sundry other equally obscure games. Thankfully there were hordes of kids who wanted to play which took the strain off me to having to participate.

Here are Maddie, Lilly and Ike re-living the glories of the tennis tournament.

Today we were up early. Phil nobly drove us to the airport at six o'clock. We grabbed a bagel and coffee for breakfast before we boarded our small plane. The flight was just an hour and suddenly we were out of the woods and in the big smoke. We are staying in Ayrie's daughter Rebecca's house for the next two nights. We dumped our bags and rushed to Starbucks for a much needed cup of coffee. And what did we find?

The ubiquitous Oprah had struck again. Not content with being the coffee guru she has reached out to invade the world of the tea drinkers. Nothing can stop the woman!
We caught the El (elevated train) into the city and went to one of my favorite art galleries, the Chicago Art Institute and saw these lovely Chagall stain glass windows.

We also went to a terrific Magritte exhibition but they wouldn't allow photos so you'll just have to take my word that it was good. It is such a wonderful art gallery. As we strolled through various exhibits my eye was caught by a beautiful luminous glass bowl.

This might look modern but it dates back to 150/50 B.C. It is from the Hellenistic period and is Eastern Mediterranean.
We had a yummy lunch in an open aired courtyard and then walked about the streets of Chicago.
Here are two pictures of a decorative doorway I liked.
