On Thursday morning we made a bit of a pilgrimage to Autrement Publishers who have published ten of Dad's books over the last nine years. The French love Kenneth Cook. Here I am with editor Emilie Lassus in front of the latest book "Fear is the Rider" which translates as "A toute berzingue" in French. Which seems to mean "At top speed". This is the manuscript that was previously unpublished until this year. This is my homage to Dad.
And after that emotional journey, we undertook another one. We met up with Joel and Liz and walked to the very famous cafe Deux Magots to meet two more Paris Metro staffers. John Keeney and Christina de Liagre connected emotionally getting ready for the forty year reunion.
Les Deux Magots is a very posh cafe where the likes of Jean Paul Sartre, Hemingway and Camus used to hang out. I thought that the words meant The Two Maggots but discovered that the name means "stocky figurines from the Far East". Inside, hanging on the wall were two such figures dating back to 1885.
This is me in front of the cafe wearing my new dress and jacket.
And here I am again showing off my recent purchases. After a couple of hours catching up over coffee and citron presses we said adieu to Tina and John and Joel took us on a scenic trip back to our apartment.
We went to the Luxembourg gardens which were lovely and leafy and green.
Then we popped into a video store and met up with a dog whose owner was the basis of one of the Paris Metro articles all those years ago. Joel invited him (the man, not the dog) to all the festivities that are coming up over this weekend.
And then onwards and upwards to the Pantheon which was originally built as a church but is now a mausoleum housing the remains of people such as Voltaire, Victor Hugo and Emile Zola.
And just next to it, one of the oldest churches in Paris, Saint-Etienne-Du-Mont.
I was the only one who went inside. It was lovely and quiet. It was good to sit down and rest my tired feet.
